First Weeks Fun
We will be having a lot of fun events going on the first couple of weeks of school and we hope you'll come on out and join us ! A few events will be done by the area of campus you live on (East Campus, West Campus, Central Campus, Meredith, etc.), and some will be done as a large group (everyone is invited). Below are some of the things we have going on this first week. Most Small Groups / Bible studies will start the 2nd week of classes.
Mon - Sat (8/14-16)
--"Freshman Move-In" - We will have student volunteers around campus helping out with move-in. Feel free to ask one of them how to get involved.
Fri (8/15)
--"Fun Sports Fridays" - We will be starting up Fun Sports Fridays ths week and will be out on Miller Fields from 2pm - 4pm and anyone can come play. Look for CRU signs and people with CRU shirts on. We will have Cornhole, Volleyball, Spikeball, Ultimate, etc. We will do these most every Friday (weather permitting) and in the winter, we move inside for basketball. To keep up with all the sports going on with CRU, be sure and join the CRU Sports Groupme
--"Bojangles Hang Out" - 7:00-9:00pm - at the Bojangles on Western Blvd (near campus). A tradition on the first Friday of Move-In. If you're a freshman - text one of the CRU leaders to give you a ride. Come on in and grab some food, hang out, and meet some new people.
Sat (8/16)
--"Grill-n-Chill" - 4:00-8:30pm at Pullen Park (next to campus) - Head towards East campus on Dunn Ave (between Reynolds and the train tracks), cross over Pullen Rd, look for CRU signs). We'll have volleyball, spikeball, cormhole, burgers, chips, hotdogs, and drinks, Come on over and hang out with us.
Sun (8/17)
--"RecFest" - Down on Miller Fields from 6:30-8:30pm (behind Carmichael gym). Look for the CRU Tents and come by and get some free Fried Oreos and Sweet Tea !
Mon (8/18)
--"Cornhole Hangout" - After a long first day of classses, come hang out on Harris field from 8:00-10:00pm and play some Cornhole and meet some new people.
Tues (8/19)
--"Shag Dancing" from 8-10pm on Harris field. Come on down and if you don't know how to shag, there will be plenty of people to teach you.
Wed (8/20)
6 - 9pm --"Ice Cream by Area" - We will be having 3 ice cream hangouts on the different areas of campus (Central-Tucker/Owen Beach > **TUES**, East-Quad Courtyard >WED, and West-Bragaw/Lee amphitheater>WED) from 6:00-8:00pm. Come by to get some free ice cream and meet some other CRU people on your area of campus.
Thurs (8/21)
8pm - Large Group Weekly Meeting at Hope Community Church (Jason Gore speaking, worship, and announcements)
9:30p - 11:00 Hang out after Large Group at Bojangles (FREE Sweet Tea for first 50)
10p- 12 - Cornhole & Spikeball on Witherspoon / Harris Field
Fri (8/22)
2 - 4 Fun Sports Friday on Miller Fields
9pm - 11 - Pool Party / Luau at Shepherds Vineyard Pool (off campus). Cost is $3. Get your Hawaiian shirt and bathing suit on and come on out. We'll also be selling CRU Luau T-shirts Thurs night and at the door (See Luau Tab).
Sat (8/23)
--"Voleyball Tournament" - 4:00-8:00pm on Lee Field (behind Lee dorm). Sign up to play and we will put teams together and will email you which team you're on and what time your first match is.
Rest of the semester....
Aug 25-29 - Small group Bible studies will start up this week and will continue through the rest of the semester
Aug 26 - Second Large group meeting in Stewart Theater in Talley. These will continue the rest of the semester on Thursday nights at 8:00pm. Aug 26th and Sept 9th will be on Tuesdays due to the NC State football games on Thursday those weeks. Check the App for locations and speakers.
Aug 26 - "Bojangles & Cornhole" - after Large Group every week, everyone heads to Bojangles on Western Blvd then heads over to Harris Field for cornhole and hanging out.
Sept 1 - "Day at the Beach" - hang out with us on Labor day down at Carolina Beach. Check the app for more details closer to then.
Sept 5 - "Pickleball tournament" - from 5:00 - 8:00pm on the Carmichael outside courts. Check app for signup and details
Sept 12-14 - "Fall Retreat" - Join us for a weekend of fun activities, good teaching, and worship. Check app for details
Sept 19 - "Shag Dancing" - Down on Harris Field 8-10pm
Sept 26 - "Barn Party" - biggest event of the year from 8p - 11p on Adcocks Farm. Check app for details
Oct 3 - "Cornhole Tournament" - Sign up here on the app
Oct 31 - "Costume Party" - 9-11pm. Get your best costume and come on out.
Nov 7 - "Jr/Sr Campout" at Falls Lake
